Malar implants (sometimes referred to as malar augmentation) are designed to rectify deficiencies of the cheekbone through meticulous placement of the implant directly on a person’s cheekbones. Augmentation of this facial region gives patients a more refined and attractive facial profile along with higher-arched cheekbones.

Submalar implants correct deficiencies in the fleshy portions of your cheeks. Surgeons place them directly under the most prominent area of a patient’s cheekbone. Filling this region can restore the fullness in your cheeks and helps eliminate that saggy and sunken appearance associated with illness and age.
Cheek Implants with Other Procedures
Cheek implant can either be a stand-alone procedure, or can be performed along with different facial surgeries, like chin implants, eyelid surgery, facelifts or nose surgery.
Cheek implants can be placed in two ways; either through the inside of your mouth or via your lower eyelid. When the procedure is performed through the mouth, your surgeon will make a tiny incision at the precise spot where your gums meet your cheek at the back of your mouth.
INSIDE OF THE MOUTH:
Dra. Amaya will gently stretch the delicate tissue structures to create a small pocket over your cheekbone. Then the cheek implant will be carefully placed and secured in the pocket, fixing it to the soft tissue or cheekbone in the region.
LOWER EYELID:
When the procedure is performed through the eyelid, Dr. Amaya will place the implant via an incision in a fold of the lower eyelid. Next, Dra. Amaya will make a small pocket for the implant and position it properly. Once the implant is secured, the incision will be closed using fine sutures.
Cheek implants are usually made of synthetic materials such as solid silicone that are compatible with and suitable for the body. We will find the shape and implant size that suits the structure of your face and provides the best possible results.
Cheek Implant Procedure Description

Depending on the patient and the type of procedure being performed, either local or general anesthesia is used. The surgeon will decide which to use based on the needs of the patient.

Incisions are made within the mouth, on the upper lip, or lower eyelid.

The implant is inserted into a pocket made within the facial tissue.

The site is closed with sutures. Additionally, there may be bandaging or taping of the area.
