Recovery after Submental Liposuction
Recovery after chin liposuction may require that you take off from work for 5-7 days and avoid strenuous activity for 2-3 weeks until all swelling has improved. A compression wrap is provided and must be worn for one week after surgery. There are no sutures to be removed. Most patients will start to see improvement in swelling and final results at around 1 month after the procedure. We advise patients to diligently follow our post-operative instructions to promote healing and recovery.
The way Dra. Amaya's perform chin liposuction is very similar to other liposuctions.
We start with doing 3 incisions, one down each earlobe and a tiny dot right in the front of your chin. Dra. Amaya's try to hide them just underneath the chin so it's not visible from a social distance in any way. The incisions are only three millimeters long, so it's about 1/8 of an inch. It's tiny. Then we continue putting a tumescence solution and we have to be careful about how much we put in. We also need to be very careful that we don't get it in areas we're not supposed to, strictly we stay underneath the skin. Once Dra. Amaya's infiltrates this area - from jawline to jawline in anterior, meaning in front of the hyoid bone on to the chin - that's the triangular area that I put in the tumescent solution. We wait about 15 minutes for the medicine to work.
